RESOLUTION 24-079
A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE 2025 PRELIMINARY TAX LEVY,
PRELIMINARY GENERAL FUND BUDGET,
AND ESTABLISHING THE BUDGET MEETING DATE
WHEREAS, the City annually adopts an operating levy for the coming year in accordance with
Minnesota State Statutes; and
WHEREAS, City staff have presented the preliminary 2025 budget and property tax levy at work sessions
in August and September 2024; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the budget and property tax levy and made modifications to each
that reflect desired community service levels; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 275.065, Subdivision 1 requires cities to certify a maximum proposed
levy on or before September 30, 2024, and to establish a public meeting date for the purpose of
discussing said proposed levy; and
WHEREAS, the Shorewood City Council has reviewed the preliminary levy as found attached in 'Exhibit
A'.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHOREWOOD, MINNESOTA
AS FOLLOWS:
1. 2025 Preliminary General Fund Budget is hereby set at $7,385,220.
2. The preliminary 2025 net tax levy to be certified to the Hennepin County Auditor of $7,593,570
is hereby established as the maximum possible net tax levy for property tax payable in 2025.
3. That Monday, December 9, 2024, is hereby established for the public meeting on the proposed
2025 budget and tax levy to be held at the City Hall Council Chambers beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Adopted by the City Council of Shorewood, Minnesota on this 23rd day of September 2024.
