RESOLUTION APPROVING ADOPTION 0FTHE HENNEP|NCOUNTY 3D24HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN
WHEREAS, the Cityof Shorewood has participated in the hazard mitigation planning process as established
under the federal Disaster Mitigation Act of20OO;and
WHEREAS, the Act establishes a framework forthe development of a County Hazard Mitigation Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Act as requires public involvement and local coordination among neighboring local units of
government and businesses inthe assessment and planning process; and
WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Plan includes a risk assessment including county disaster history, an
inventory ofhazards that threaten the County, anestimate ofinfrastructure atrisk, ageneral description
ofpopulation, land use and development trends; and
WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Plan includes a mitigation strategy including goals and objectives and an
action plan identifying specific mitigation projects and costs that will reduce disaster impacts; and
WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Plan includes amaintenance orimplementation process including plan
updates, integration of the plan into other planning documents and how Hennepin County will maintain
public participation and coordination; and
WHEREAS, the Plan has been shared with the Minnesota Division of Homeland Security and Emergency
Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency for review and comment; and
WHEREAS, this Hennepin County All -Hazard Mitigation Plan is multi -jurisdictional in scope and cities that
participated in the planning process may choose to adopt the County Plan and be included in eligibility to
apply for federal mitigation grants.
NOW THEREFORE, BE|TRESOLVED BYTHE CITY COUNCIL OFTHE CITY UFSHOREVVOOD,K4|NNESOTABE
IT RESOLVED, that the City of Shorewood adopts the 2024 Hennepin County All -Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Adopted by the City Council of Shorewood, Minnesota this 27 th day of January 2025.
