These are dedicated street rights —of —way which were platted to extend to various locations on the shoreline of Lake Minnetonka and Lake William. In the past the City has received numerous requests from residents near these fire lanes to use them for various activities such as picnicking, swimming, fishing and docking. In several instances the City has received complaints from property owners adjoining the fire lanes regarding noise, maintenance and encroachment onto their property. The City Council has referred the issue to the Planning Commission to study how these fire lanes should be used. A public hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, 10 July at 9:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers of the Shorewood City Hall. The purpose of the hearing is to gather citizen input to be used in formulating a City policy relative to the future use of fire lanes. These are dedicated street rights —of —way which were platted to extend to various locations on the shoreline of Lake Minnetonka and Lake William. In the past the City has received numerous requests from residents near these fire lanes to use them for various activities such as picnicking, swimming, fishing and docking. In several instances the City has received complaints from property owners adjoining the fire lanes regarding noise, maintenance and encroachment onto their property. The City Council has referred the issue to the Planning Commission to study how these fire lanes should be used. A public hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, 10 July at 9:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers of the Shorewood City Hall. The purpose of the hearing is to gather citizen input to be used in formulating a City policy relative to the future use of fire lanes.
