A RESOUTION COMMENDING THE SOUTH LAKE MINNETONKA
POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR ITS THOROUGH INVESTIGATION OF THE
2003 MURDER OF BAIT SHOP OWNER VERMONT "IKE" ISAACSON
WHEREAS, on September 23, 2003, Excelsior bait shop owner Vermont "Ike" Isaacson was
found shot to death at his store, Roy's Live Bait Shop, on Highway 7 in Excelsior; and
WHEREAS, the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department spent countless hours of police
time and effort investigating this tragic death in the South Lake Minnetonka community; and
WHEREAS, the professional and thorough investigation efforts of the South Lake Minnetonka
Police Department resulted in the January 22, 2005, conviction of Matthew M. Scanlon of first -
degree premeditated murder and first -degree murder while committing aggravated robbery;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, it is with great pride the Council of the City of
Shorewood hereby acknowledges and proclaims its gratitude to the South Lake Minnetonka
Police Department for its outstanding investigation of this tragic event in our community;
• AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Shorewood goes on record commending
Police Chief Bryan Litsey and the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department, for their
professional expertise and tireless persistence which resulted in bringing justice to the South
Lake Minnetonka community.
