A RESOLUTION APPROVING REVISED PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS
AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT FOR RE -BIDDING FOR
THE COUNTY STATE AID HIGHWAY 19/SMITHOWN ROAD INTERSECTION
RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT; S.A.P. 27-619-18, S.A.P. 216-020-02
WHEREAS, the City Council, of the City of Shorewood has identified the intersection of
County State Aid Highway 19 and Smithtown Road a critical element within the overall
transportation system; and
WHEREAS, the City of Shorewood, in cooperation with Hennepin County, has ordered
the preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimate for improvements to said intersection; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 04-057 adopted June 14, 2004, an advertisement for
bids for the County Road 19 — Smithtown Road Improvement Project, City Project No. 97-07,
was published, bids were received, opened and tabulated on August 4, 2004 at 10:00 a.m.
according to law; and
WHEREAS, the City Council and Hennepin County opted to reject the bids received on
June 14, 2004, due to costs being in excess of the budgeted amounts to construct said
improvement project; and
• WHEREAS, Hennepin County has directed WSB and Associates, Inc. to make revisions
to said Plans and Specifications to reduce overall costs to the project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the revisions to the Plans and
Specifications, dated September 13"', 2004 are found to be in order.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Shorewood, Minnesota:
1. Plans, Specifications and Estimates, prepared by WSB & Associates, Inc., dated
September 13t', 2004, for said Improvement, are hereby approved and shall be
filed with the City Clerk.
2. The City Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted in the official paper and in
Construction Bulletin an advertisement for bids, attached hereto as Exhibit A, ad
for bids, upon the making of such improvement under such approved plans and
specifications. The advertisement shall be published for 3 weeks, shall specify the
work to be done, shall state that bids will be opened and considered by the
Council at 10:00 a.m. on October 20, 2004, in the City Hall Council Chambers,
and that no bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the Clerk and
accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond, or certified check
payable to the Clerk for 5 percent of the amount of each bid.
