04-082CITY OF SHOREWOOD RESOLUTION NO.04- 082 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT BOARD FOR THE 2004 GENERAL ELECTION WHEREAS, the City Hall serves as an absentee ballot center for the residents of Shorewood; and WHEREAS, State Statute Section 203B.13, Subd 1 provides that an Absentee Ballot Board may be established by the City Council to facilitate the absentee process for an upcoming election; WHEREAS, State Statue Section 203B.13, Subd. 2 provides that if an absentee ballot envelope has been rejected at least five days before the election, the ballots in the envelope must be considered spoiled ballots and the official in charge of the Absentee Ballot Board shall provide the voter with a replacement absentee ballot and return envelope in place of the spoiled ballot; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Shorewood City Council hereby establishes an Absentee Ballot Board to receive, examine, and validate absentee ballots. This process of examining the return envelopes and marking them "accepted" or rejected" may begin at • any time during the 30 days before Election Day; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Shorewood City Council that: A. A Board of at least two election judges of different political parties shall be appointed by the Deputy Clerk. B. Absentee Ballot Board members shall be compensated at the same rate as an election judge for their services.
