03-038• CITY OF SHOREWOOD Hennepin County, Minnesota RESOLUTION NO. 03 -038 A RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING RECEIPT OF THE FINAL REPORT OF THE SOUTH LAKE MINNETONKA COMMUNITY VISIONING STUDY WHEREAS, in late 2000 the City Council decided to undertake a community visioning study to help develop a common vision among the South Lake Minnetonka cities, and that will help the cities work together to serve our interdependent community; and WHEREAS, the City engaged the consulting services of Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc., (HKGi), and its team which included The Lawless Institute and MMC Associates, to perform the study; and WHEREAS, while the HGKi team performed a scoping study in 2001, the City of Shorewood encouraged the participation of the cities of Deephaven, Excelsior, Greenwood, and Tonka Bay at the marginal cost of including them in the project, in order to define the scope of the project that HGKi would subsequently perform; and • WHEREAS, the City of Excelsior elected to participate in the Community Visioning Study, and was therefore included in the project when its next phase began in Fall 2001; and WHEREAS, the HGKi team prepared its report based information gained during random selected interviews, a public workshop, two strategy sessions involving the two cities' councils and their advisory commissions, and subsequent work sessions on the draft report with the city councils individually during 2002; and WHEREAS, in early 2003 the City Council requested discussion regarding the final report and the intent of the study, and this discussion occurred on April 14, 2003; and WHEREAS, the Final Report of the Community Visioning Study represents information that the City may use as it considers matters of community planning, service delivery, and cooperative and collaborative opportunities among the South Lake Minnetonka cities, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Shorewood that it acknowledges receipt of the Final Report of the Community Visioning Study, including its supporting reports and materials, as prepared by Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc., and its team.
