RESOLUTION NO. 03-037
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE CITY OF SHOREWOOD `OPT OUT' STUDY
FINAL REPORT
WHEREAS, in 2000, the Minnesota Legislature passed a law (Chapter 493, Sect.
21) allowing Minnetonka and Shorewood to opt out of the regional transit system by 30 June
2003; and
WHEREAS, the City of Shorewood wanted an in-depth study to examine the
issues related to public transit service delivery within the community; and
WHEREAS, in October of 2002, the Shorewood City Council hired the
Transportation Consulting firm of LJR, Inc. to prepare an opt out study for the City of
Shorewood; and
WHEREAS, the "City of Shorewood `Opt Out' Study Final Report", March
2003, prepared by LJR, Inc. was reviewed by the Shorewood Planning Commission at its study
session on 25 March 2003, the minutes of which meeting are on file in the Shorewood City
offices; and
WHEREAS, the `Opt Out' Study. was reviewed by the Shorewood City Council
at its regular meeting on 14 April 2003, the minutes of which meeting are on file in the
Shorewood City offices; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Shorewood as follows:
The City of Shorewood `Opt Out' Study Final Report, March 2003, prepared by LJR, Inc.
is hereby accepted, and the recommendation contained therein shall be taken into
consideration in future discussions with the Metropolitan Council.
