RESOLUTION NO. 02-011
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A "PARKING BY PERMIT ONLY" ZONE
ON MERRY LANE
WHEREAS, Merry Lane is in close proximity to the public landing on the west side of
Christmas Lake, and residents on the street have experienced problems with overflow parking
from the public access; and
WHEREAS, residents of Merry Lane have requested City Council approval of parking
restrictions on the street, which restrictions have been granted; and
WHEREAS, residents along this low traffic volume residential street occasionally have a
need for on -street parking on Merry Lane; and
WHEREAS, no parking, limited parking and parking by permit only zones are
authorized in Section 801.02 of the City Code.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the portion of Merry Lane abutting Lots
1-6, Block 1, Christmas Shore shall be designated a "Parking by Permit Only" zone. Said zone
shall be governed by all other parking restrictions established in the City Code and by the
following procedures:
A resident of Merry Lane may apply for a permit at City Hall for a period not to
exceed 72 hours.
The City Clerk shall issue the permit during regular working hours upon receipt of
an opinion by the SLMPD Chief and Director of Public Works that conditions are
such as to not likely cause a public safety concern and upon receipt of a $10.00
deposit for each bag taken by the resident to place over the "No Parking Signs"
which the applicant wishes to cover.
The applicant is responsible for covering the signs with the bags provided by the
City during the prescribed time. The applicant's deposit shall be returned upon
receipt at City Hall of the undamaged bags.
The permit may be rescinded at any time by the Police Chief, Director of Public
Works, Fire Chief or Fire Marshal and bags removed should it be determined by
any of the said Department Heads that conditions have changed such that public
safety concerns may now exist.
