RESOLUTION NO. 99- 061
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A SCHOOL SPEED ZONE
ON SMITHTOWN ROAD
WHEREAS, Minnesota State Statute allows the local roadway authority the
ability to establish school speed zones within a school zone of a public or non-public
school on the basis of an engineering investigation; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has performed such analysis and recommends that
a School Speed Zone of20 miles per hour be established on Smithtown Road at the
Minnewashta Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Shorewood to
promote safe motor and pedestrian travel.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Shorewood City Council, that
a School Speed Zone of"20 miles per hour when children are present," be established on
Smithtown Road, adjacent the Minnewashta Elementary School
.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Shore wood this 9th day of
August, 1999.
