RESOLUTION NO. 97-109
A RESOLUTION PROVIDING DIRECTION TO MnlDOT REGARDING
ACCESS CLOSURES AND IMPROVEMENTS TO VARIOUS
INTERSECTIONS WITH STATE TRUNK HIGHWAY 7
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has requested
participation by the City of Shorewood in closing certain intersections on State Trunk
Highway 7, and in making improvements to certain other intersections on State Trunk
Highway 7; and
WHEREAS, the City of Shorewood has conducted numerous
neighborhood meetings to discuss various alternatives for improving the safety at
intersections on State Trunk Highway 7.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
SHOREWOOD CITY COUNCIL that Shorewood City Staff pursue the following
improvements to State Trunk Highway 7 with the Minnesota Department of Transportation:
1. The intersection at State Trunk Highway 41 shall be realigned to create
dedicated left turn lanes and separate through lanes on both the north and
south legs of the intersection; and to create a free right turn for traffic
westbound onto Highway 7 from the Shorewood Shopping Center access.
The intersection at Lake Linden Drive and Trunk Highway 7 shall be
closed.

3. The intersection at Wood Drive shall be closed and a cul-de-sac shall be
constructed at the south end of Wood Drive.
4. The access to Highway 7 at Pleasant Avenue shall be closed.
5 . The access to Highway 7 at Seamans Drive shall be closed.
6. The intersection at Eureka Road shall be improved to include a right-turn
lane for traffic southbound on Eureka Road to westbound Highway 7.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Shorewood this 15th day of
December, 1997.
