CITY OF SHOREWOOD
RESOLUTION NO.___~2.=-~~
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT MNDOT CONDEMN THE
BUILDING AT 21285 RADISSON ROAD
WHEREAS, the City of Shorewood approved plans for the improvement of the
intersection at Christmas Lake Road and State Trunk Highway 7 in 1991; and
WHEREAS, the plans for the intersection were subsequently modified due to political
pressure, and most of the improvements associated with the project take place on the Shorewood
side of Highway 7; and
WHEREAS, the project will result in the condemnation of portions of certain properties
within Shorewood, one of which properties, located at 21285 Radisson Road, is substantially
nonconforming with Shorewood's zoning requirements; and
WHEREAS, the zoning of the subject property requires lots to be 40,000 square feet in
area and buildings to be at least 50 feet from street rights-of-way, and the subject property will
contain less than 7000 square feet and portions of the right-of-way will be less than 10 feet from
the existing building; and
WHEREAS, the City had previously anticipated that the existing nonconforming structure
would be removed as part of the intersection improvement;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Shorewood, Minnesota, that the Minnesota Department of Transportation is hereby requested to
condemn the property at 21285 Radisson Road in its entirety and remove the existing
nonconforming structure located thereon as part of the Christmas Lake Road/State Highway 7
intersection improvement project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City staff is directed to forward a copy of this
resolution to the Commissioner of the Department of Transportation.
