RESOLUTION NO. 95 - 91
A RESOLUTION MAINTAINING METRO
MOBILITY SERVICE FOR SHOREWOOD
RESIDENTS
WHEREAS, Shorewood residents are in need of Metro
Mobility Service to an equal or greater degree than residents
of other metropolitan area communities, in that Shorewood has
no sidewalks, medical facilities, nor public transportation;
and
WHEREAS, Shorewood property owners pay a high rate
of property taxes to the metropolitan transit system; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council may not have the
legal responsibility but should feel a moral responsibility
to provide services to residents of Shorewood and six other
small communities whose Metro Mobility Services are proposed
for elimination.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Shorewood
City Council that the Metropolitan Council is hereby
requested to provide Metro Mobility Services to Shorewood
residents through use of the current financial resources of
the transit system, without additional burden on Shorewood
property taxpayers.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Shorewood this 11th day of September, 1995.
