RESOLUTION NO. 58-87
A RESOLUTION GRANTING A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A
PUMPHOUSE IN SILVERWOOD PARK
WHEREAS, the Shorewood City Engineer has completed plans for a
pumphouse to serve the southeast area water system; and
WHEREAS, the pumphouse will consist of a building 17 feet by 22
feet, being slightly larger than a single-car garage, will be single story
in height with a hip roof, cedar siding and cedar shakes, and be located
in a residential area; and
WHEREAS, the application to construct a municipal building within
a residential district requires the granting of a Conditional Use Permit;
and
WHEREAS, the application was reviewed by the Shorewood Planning
Commission at a public hearing held on 5 May 1987, and approval was
recommended by the Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Shorewood as follows:
FINDINGS OF FACT
1. That the proposed building meets all the setback requirements
and all variances required.
2. That the City Engineer has located the facility eastward to a
low elevation in Silverwood Park to satisfy the concerns of the residents
north of the park that sight lines to Silver Lake would be blocked.
3. That the proposed pumphouse is an integral part of the water
system, which has been planned for the southeast area for years, and is
consistent with the Shorewood Comprehensive Plan.
4. That the proposed building is not only considered to be
compatible with the surrounding residential area but also essential to
providing water services to several hundred residences in the
neighborhood.
5. That the existence of the proposed building will not diminish
the residential value of the property and, in fact, the water system
itself will add approximately $4,000 to the value of the lots served by
the system.
