86-096 RESOLUTION NO. (I ~-, .... .'\' l-::: . RESOLUTION APPROVING JOINT AND COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT RELATING TO THE EMPLOYMENT OF POLICE CHIEF AND POLICE OFFICERS SO AS TO PROVIDE FULL-TIME POLICE PROTECTION FOR THE CITIES OF EXCELSIOR, GREENWOOD, SHOREWOOD AND TONKA BAY WHEREAS, the Shorewood City Council has the responsibility for providing law enforcement within the City of Shorewood to enforce the ordinances of the city and laws of the State of Minnesota, and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes Section 471.59 provides that cities may enter into joint and cooperative agreements, and WHEREAS, the City of Shorewood is presently a party to such a joint and cooperative agreement together with the Cities of Excelsior, Greenwood, and Tonka Bay, and WHEREAS, such agreement established a joint police force known as the South Lake Minnetonka Public Safety Department, and ~ WHEREAS, the Shorewood City Council on January 27, 1986, by resolution No. 7-86 voted to withdraw from such agreement effective December 31, 1987, and WHEREAS, the City Council now desires to enter into an agreement with the Cities of Excelsior, Greenwood and Tonka Bay to extend the life of such joint police force after December 31, 1987. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Shorewood: 1. That the City of Shorewood enter into the joint and cooperative agreement which is attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit A. 2. That the Mayor and the City Clerk be instructed to sign all documents and do all acts necessary to effectuate this resolution.
