RESOLUTION NO. 2-86
RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSAL FOR PEDESTRIAN ACCESS TO SILVER LAKE
WHEREAS, the City of Shorewood owns property located north of Covington Road
which is designated as Silverwood Park and such property overlooks
Silver Lake; and
WHEREAS, a residential development known as Silver Ridge separates the park
property from the lake; and
WHEREAS, another proposed development in the area known as Near Mountain has
offered the City alternatives as pedestrian access to Silver Lake; and
WHEREAS, the Shorewood Park Commission has discussed the alternatives at meetings
held on November 4 and November 18, 1985 and January 6, 1986; and
WHEREAS, the Park Commission has recommended acceptance of an alternative which
provides for up to a 20 foot easement granted to the City by the owners
of the Silver Ridge property located directly south of the proposed
driveway to Silverwood Park to be used for passive pedestrian access to
Silver Lake.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Shorewood the
following:
1. That the City accepts the alternative presented by the owners of
the development known as Near Mountain which calls for up to a
20 foot easement through platted property known as Silver Ridge to
be granted to the City at no cost and to be used as access to
Silver Lake for the express purpose of pedestrian activities such as
walking, hiking, cross-country skiing, canoe portaging, etc.
2. That all easement negotiations and document preparation be done by
the owners of the Near Mountain property at no cost to the City.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Shorewood this 13th day of January, 1986.
