Jl9-f~ WHEREAS, The City of Shorewood recognizes the existence of an urban forest on public land to be beneficial to the quality of its residential character, and WHEREAS, the diseases of dutch elm and oak wilt are a present and continuing threat to the urban forest, and WHEREAS, the loss of the urban forest on public land due to the uncontrolled spread of dutch elm and oak wilt we'5ld be a blighting influence in the community BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Shorewood does hereby declare that diseased trees on public lands are a blighting influence and the removal of such diseased trees is an activity which will induce or eliminate a source of blight within the community. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Shorewood does hereby amend its Year VIII Community Developnent Block Grant Program to include an activity for the removal of diseased elm and oak trees on public lands within its boundaries.
