CITY OF SHOREWOOD RESOLUTION NO. 94 - ~ A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR A PROPOSED PEDESTRIAN CROSSING OF TRUNK HIGHWAY 7 AT THE MINNETONKA HIGH SCHOOL WHEREAS, the Minnetonka School District and the city of Minnetonka have jointly undertaken a feasibility study regarding a separate pedestrian crossing of Trunk Highway 7 in the vicinity of the Minnetonka High School; and, WHEREAS, Trunk Highway 7 carries in excess of 30,000 vehicles per day, and the existing high school enrollment of 1,700 is projected to increase to 2,700 within the next 10 years; and, WHEREAS, students have been walking across Trunk Highway 7 at random to get from the school to the north side of T.H. 7; and, WHEREAS, the Minnetonka School District and the City of Minnetonka have applied for Federal funding of 80% of the cost of installing a pedestrian bridge, estimated to cost $520,000; and, WHEREAS, the Minnetonka Public Schools and the city of Minnetonka will each pay 50% of the unfunded 20% portion of the project. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Shorewood city council hereby supports application for Federal funding for a pedestrian bridge crossing of Trunk Highway 7 in the vicinity of the Minnetonka High School.
