RESOLUTION NO.

A RESOLUTION TO TRANSFER ARCHIVAL RECORDS TO THE
STATE ARCHIVES OF THE MINNESOTA HISTORICAL SOCIETY
WHEREAS, certain records no longer have administrative, fiscal
or legal value for operations of the City of Shorewood; and
WHEREAS, records storage space is in short supply in the City
of Shorewood City Hall; and
WHEREAS, records with archival value are eligible for transfer
to the state Archives of the Minnesota Historical Society; and
WHEREAS, the City of Shorewood has adopted the General Records
Retention Schedule for Cities, Resolution No. 67-81 and Resolution
No. 5-92 which establishes minimum retention periods for City
records based on their administrative, legal, fiscal and historical
value.
THEREFORE, in accordance with the General Records Retention
Schedule for Cities, the City of Shorewood authorizes transfer of
the records listed on Attachment A to the State Archives of the
Minnesota Historical Society.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Shorewood this 11th
day of January 1993.

Many historically important records remain in the custody of Minnesota cities. This
statement identifies some of the most valuable series of municipal records. Records listed
on this sheet that no longer have administrative value to the cities should be transferred
to the State Archives in the Minnesota Historical Society. Transfer of such records to any
other historical agency, public library, or museum is expressly prohibited by Minnesota stat-
utes. Numerous other records (e.g., charter, incorporation records, deeds to city property,
zoning files) not listed on this sheet must be retained permanently by the city.
ADMINISTRATIVE RECORDS
MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL meetings, all council
committees, task forces, boards, commissions,
and advisory bodies.
AGENDA PACKETS, prepared for Council meetings.
ANNEXATION RECORDS, including any records of
towns or municipalities annexed.

the city's central administration.
ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS, unless completely
reproduced in the minutes.

files may have historical significance.
