RESOLUTION NO. 54-93
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BIDS FOR REHABILITATION
OF LIFT STATIONS NO.9 AND 10
CITY PROJECT NO. 93.1
WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for local improvements
designated as Rehabilitation of Lift Stations No.9 and 10, project 93-1, bids were
received, opened on May 19, 1993, and tabulated according to law, such tabulation is
attached hereto and made a part hereof; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has designated that GHT Construction, Inc. is the
lowest responsible bidder in compliance with the specifications.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Shorewood as follows:
1.
That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter
into a contract with GHT Construction, Inc. in the name of the City of
Shorewood, Project No. 93-1 according to the plans and specifications
therefore approved by the City Council on file in the office of the City
Clerk.
2. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith
to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, except for the deposits of
the successful bidder and next lowest bidder, which shall be retained until a
contract has been signed.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, of the City of Shorewood, this 24th day of
May, 1993.

Dear Mayor and Council Members:
We received bids on the referenced project yesterday, and a tabulation of the bid results
are attached. The lowest bidder was GHT Construction, Inc. in the amount of
$57,440.00. The remainder of the bids ranged as high as $80,600.00. Based on the bids
received last year for a somewhat similar project, we had budgeted $75,000.00 for
construction and contingencies and another $15,000.00 for design and construction
observation, for a total of $90,000.00 on this year's project. Based on the bids received,
projected design and observation fees of $10,000.00, and a contingency of $2,000.00
(3%), the revised budget is estimated at $69,440.00.
GHT Construction is apparently a fairly new firm, and we have never worked with them
before. However, we have received favorable recommendations on the owner, and have
not uncovered any negative recommendations with regard to either the firm or the
owner. Unless new information is obtained between now and the Council Meeting, we
recommend awarding the bid to GHT Construction, Inc., in the amount of $57,440.00.
