RESOLUTION NO. 26 -92 RESOLUTION APPROVING PROJECTED USE OF FUNDS FOR YEAR XVIII OF THE URBAN HENNEPIN COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS, the city of Shorewood, through execution of a Joint Coorperation Agreement with Hennepin County, is cooperating in the Urban Hennepin County Community Development Block Grant Program; and WHEREAS, the City of Shorewood has developed a proposal for the use of Urban Hennepin County CDBG funds made available to it, and held a public hearing on March 9th, 1992 to obtain the views of citizens on local and Urban Hennepin County housing and community development needs and the City'S proposed use of $22,358.00 from the Year XVIII Urban Hennepin County Community Development Block Grant. BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Shorewood approves the following projects for funding from the Year XVIII Urban Hennepin County Community Development Block Grant program related and applicable program income and authorizes submittal of the proposal to Hennepin County for review and inclusion in the Year XVIII Urban Hennepin County Community Development Block Grant Program statement of Objectives and Projected Use of Funds. proiect Budqet Housing Rehabilitation Loan Program $14,655.00 Southshore Senior Center Operation $ 7,703.00 ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL by the City of Shorewood this 9th day of March , 1992. CITY OF SHOREWOOD NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING YEAR XVIII (1992) URBAN HENNEPIN COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM NanCE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the city of Shorewood in cooperation with Hennepin County. pursuant to nUe I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974. as amended, is holding a public hearing on March 9.1992. at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Shorewood City Hall. The public hearing is on housing and community development needs of the city and UrbaIi Hen- - nepin County. the UrbaIi Hennepin County Community Development Block Grant Program State- ment of Objectives and the ~roposed use of the Year XVIII Urban Hennepin County Community. Development Block Grant Program planning allocation of $22.779 by the city. - During the July 1, 1992 to June 30, ~ program year it is estimated that no additional program income from locally funded CDBG activities will be available to the city. .. . The Statement of Objectives basically consists of the following seven program areas: (1) AD- MINISTRATION. to maximize program benefiland effectively administer program funds; (2) _ HOUSING, to rehabilitate and assist in the development of housing which is affordable to low- and moderate-income households; (3) NEIGHBORHOOD REVITALIZATION, to maintain and preserve viable neighborhoods through concentrated community development activities; (4) PUBLIC FACILITIES. to improve existing and assist in the development of new public facilities which benefit low- and moderate-income persons;. (5) ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, to provide fmancial assistance to businesses which Will provide or retain employment to the benefit of low- and moderate-income pet"SOD8.; (6) PUBLIC SERVICES. to expan<1 and improve the quantity and quality of public.services available to low- and moderate-income ~ns; and (7) REMOVAL OF ARCHITEC'nJRAL BARRIERS. to alleviate cooditiOllS which restrict the mobility and accessibility of elderly or handicapped persons.
