A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A PAPER PROCUREMENT POLICY
FOR THE CITY OF SHOREWOOD
WHEREAS, the City of Shorewood wishes to be in compliance with
Hennepin County Solid Waste Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City's Solid Waste Source Reduction Plan
(Resolution No. 61-91) states that the City will purchase as much
paper as possible from recycled stock.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the following paper
procurement policy be adopted:
1. The policy of the city will be to use recycled paper
containing at least 50% recycled fiber. Exceptions to
the policy may be granted after review by the City
Administrator.
2. Copiers purchased for use by the City shall have the
capability of handling two sided coping on recycled
paper.
3.
All paper utilized in computer printers should be
recycled paper including form-fed and laser printers.
4. All one-time-use-only (such as memo paper, note pads,
telephone message pads and notebook paper) should be
recycled paper.
5. All stationery and business cards should be printed on
recycled paper.

The following resolution was offered by Commissioner Johnson,
seconded by Commissioner Derus:
BE IT RESOLVED, that the paper procurement policy be1n~
implemented by the Bureau of Public Service is he~eby.adopted
as the paper procurel:Jent policy for all COUllt)' departments:
1. The policy of the county will be to use recycled
paper containing at l@ast 50% recycled fiber.
Exception~ to the policy may be granted aiter
review by the Recycled Paper Task Force.
2. Rec.ycled con ten t paper should be used in all con-
venience copiers throughout the county fo~ one-
sided copying.
3. All paper utilized in computer printers should be

5. All stationery and business cards should be p~inted

6. Central Services should maintain in-hQuse stocks of
papers commonly used by the county with a minimum
of 50~ recycled content and process orders for
printing on recycled paper in a routine manner.
7. The new contract for convenience copiers should
require the capability of handling two-sided
~opying on recycled paper.
8. Any new high-speed duplicators to be purchased by
the county should be capable of handling recycled
,- paper.
