RESOLUTION NO. 95-89
A RESOLUTION GRANTING A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT
FOR A SPECIAL HOME OCCUPATION
FOR CAROL LINDBERG
WHEREAS, Carol Lindberg (Applicant) is the owner of certain real
property located at 21045 Ivy Lane in the City of Shorewood, County of
Hennepin, State of Minnesota, legally described in Exhibit A, attached
hereto and made a part hereof; and
WHEREAS, Applicant resides on said property and proposes to
operate a barber shop within her home located on the premises; and
WHEREAS, such a home occupation requires a Conditional Use Permit
(CUP) pursuant to Shorewood City Code; and
WHEREAS, Applicant proposes to convert an existing bedroom into a
shop which will contain a single chair and sink, and intends to work by
herself; and
WHEREAS, the City has previously granted Conditional Use Permits
for special home occupations for beauty and barber services, and has
recei ved no complaints from the public as the result of those businesses;
and
WHEREAS, it appears that Applicant's intended use would be
compatible with the surrounding residential uses and would cause no
disburbances within the area; and
WHEREAS, the application was reviewed by the Shorewood Planning
Commission at a regularly scheduled meeting on 7 November 1989, for which
notice was duly given; and
WHEREAS, the Subject Property is zoned R-1D, Single Family
Residential, and contains approximately 19,584 square feet of area.
NOW, T HEREFO RE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Shorewood as follows:
FINDINGS OF FACT
1. That Section 1201.03, Subd. 12, provides for special home use
occupations, and barber and beauty services are specifically listed as
acceptable special home occupations.

2. T hat Applicant's application conforms to the requirements set
forth in the Shorewood City Code.
3. T hat the proposed use of the property for the home occupation
of barbering will be secondary to the residential use of the premises,
will not change the residential character thereof, and will not result in
incompatibility or disturbance to the surrounding residential uses.
4. That the proposed use will not adversely affect the general
welfare, public health and safety of the community.
CONCLUSIONS
That the application of the Applicant for a Conditional Use
Permit as set forth hereinabove be and hereby is granted subject to the
following conditions:
1. That Applicant will be the only one working on the premises.
2. That Applicant's work area will be inside the principal
dwelling.
3. That the only products which shall be sold by the Applicant
are those used by her customers in conjunction with the barbering services
provided to them.
