RESOLUTION NO. 41-89
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING A SPEED ZONE STUDY ON
SWEETWATER CIRCLE AND SWEETWATER CURVE
PUBLIC STREETS IN THE CITY OF SHOREWOOD
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the Shorewood
City Council by residents of Sweetwater Circle and Sweetwater Curve that a
special hazard exists due to the configuration of the streets; and
WHEREAS, the present speed limit on Sweetwater Circle and
Sweetwater Curve is 30 mph; and

WHEREAS, the City Council believes that, due to the configuration
of the streets, this speed limit is unreasonable and unsafe under the
existing conditions and that the speed limit should be lowered to 20 mph.
NOW, T HEREFO RE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Shorewood, Minnesota, that:
1. That the City Council of the City of Shorewood hereby
requests the Commissioner of Transportation to authorize, upon the basis
of an engineering and traffic investigation, the reduction of the speed
limit on Sweetwater Circle and Sweetwater Curve from 30 mph to 20 mph.
2. That the Commissioner authorize the erection of appropriate
signs on Sweetwter Circle and Sweetwter Curve designating the speed limit
thereon to be 20 mph.
3. That the City Administrator be authorized to forward a copy
of this Resolution to the appropriate office of the Minnesota Department
of Transportation for follow-up and response.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Shorewood, this 22d day of
May, 1989.
