RESOLUTION NO. 63-88
.
WHEREAS, the South Lake Minnetonka Public Safety Department (SLMPSD)
provides Police protection jointly to the Cities of Excelsior,
Greenwood, Shorewood and Tonka Bay; and
WHEREAS, the SLMPSD received a call at approximately 9:00 A.M. on May 30,
1988, that a youth, Ross Christian Andersen, age 14 of 45 Mound
Avenue in Tonka Bay, was missing; and
WHEREAS, the youth was apparently fishing on a dock while waiting for a
friend to pick him up in a boat; and
WHEREAS, Officer Steve Cobb of the SLMPSD arrived at the scene, located
the youth in five feet of water, five feet from the end of the
dock, and brought him to shore; and
WHEREAS, upon reaching shore, resuscitation efforts were begun by Inves-
tigator Dan Rusch and Lt. John Hodgdon; and
WHEREAS, because of the efforts of the three officers involved, the youth
did not drown.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Shorewood
as follows:

1. That Officer Steve Cobb is well deserving of a Departmental
commendation for performing his duties as a Police Officer of
the SLMPSD in such a courageous and gallant manner.
2. That Investigator Dan Rusch and Lt. John Hodgdon should be
commended for their assistance.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Shorewood this 13th day of June,
1988.
