Subject: Park Commission Position
Hi Jean. Thanks for all of the help and information regarding the Park Commission Position. As discussed this morning, I would
be interested in being considered for this position and look forward to meeting with the City Council on Monday.
As requested, I will provide you with some background on myself as well as a summary of my interest in this position via e-mail so
you can provide this information to those that are interested.
Background:
Not that age matters, but I am 40 years old and grew up in Minnetonka and attended Hopkins High School. I have lived in "the
area" all my life and bought our current home in Shorewood in 1998. I am currently married to a Minnetonka grad., Tammy, and
we have a five year old boy, Luke. I have been involved in sports all my life and I coached high school aged hockey players in
Hopkins for 15 years until 2001. I recently was head coach for Luke's soccer team with Tonka United and will be coaching hockey
again beginning this fall at Minnetonka. The extent of my community involvement in the past has been coaching.
Professipnally speaking, I spent10 years at Target Corporation in Finance and then Marketing. In 2000 I moved into the financial
services business as an Investment Advisor and I am currently running my practice out of First Minnetonka Bank in Minnetonka. I
graduated from the University of Minnesota with a combined degree of Finance, Economics, and Psychology.
Interest:
I have no specific "agenda" in participating on the Park Commission. My interest is the result of a couple of things: 1. As I
indicated earlier, the extent of my community involvement in the past has been coaching youth sports. I will always continue
coaching, but I would like to get involved in my community in other ways as well. Essentially, this is a broad personal goal of mine
that I am trying to fulfill. 2. Keeping the goal in mind, I feel it's important to get involved in things that you have an interest in and
that impacts you, your family, your neighbors, etc.. We have always used the parks in the area and as Luke gets older we will be
using them more and more for youth sports, etc. Since we will be heavy users of the parks, etc. I would like to participate in
keeping the parks, grounds, facilities in a manner that we all expect and I would also like to have input on how that might happen.
That's pretty brief, but hopefully that information is helpful. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you should have any questions.
Thanks again!
