WHEREAS, Governor Per.pich has proposed that counties, cities,
schools and other political subdivisions pay state
sales tax on their purchases; and
WHEREAS, The City of Shore\'JOod would incur a substantial aroount
of additional tax payers expense in sales tax payments
each year; and
WHEREAS, The City of Shorewood and the other taxing districts
will be required to cut services or increase future
property tax levies to pay for the sales tax;
BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Shoremod
opposes the irrposition of a state sales tax on the
City or other taxing districts.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this position be expressed to the
Shorewood representatives to the Minnesota Legislature
on this item.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Shorewood this 27th
day of April, 1987.
