It is time to begin making plans for the annual appreciation event. For three of the last four
years, this event has been held at the Minnetonka Country Club. In 2001, it was held at the Burl
Oaks Country Club. In past years, the program has included a social hour, the Mayor's
acknowledgement of groups and individuals, dinner, entertainment, and party favors.
Entertainment has included jugglers, palm readers, magicians, comedians, and dance bands.
Party gifts ranged from office supplies to carbon monoxide detectors to pens that light up.
A couple of times, drawings were held for a few prizes. Councilmember Lizee has also made
beautiful table centerpieces that were given to the lucky person who sat in the secretly marked
chair.
A summary of the past four year's expenses is attached. The 2003 budget provides $4000 for this
event. As this is Council's appreciation event, staff would like input from Council as to what it
wishes to include this year, keeping in mind that budgets are tight and staffwill do what it can to
stay within the budget.
